Gifts of Hope helps support and assist cancer patients in need; the cancer patient who has limited financial resources. Typical patients may live in Midland or Odessa, but many live in a small community in the Permian Basin and drive into Midland or Odessa to be treated at Allison Center in Midland or the West Texas Cancer Center in Odessa through Texas Oncology. The patients and their caregivers driving to Midland or Odessa can find lodging at the Hope House. Gifts of Hope provides lodging at no cost to the patient through the operation of Hope House, which is adjacent to Allison Cancer Center in Midland.

As a patient battles cancer, the needs for various medications to alleviate the side effects are great. Many of our patients are unfunded and need assistance to pay for their pain and nausea medications. These patients also encounter a low immune system which hinders them from looking to outside assistance and programs where there are crowded situations. Gifts of Hope also assists the cancer patients who cannot afford some medications or the associated costs of care such as some indirect medical expenses that are not covered by any other entity. We are fortunate to assist patients locally when other agencies are unable to help. Many of our patients fall through the cracks of indigent programs and Gifts of Hope is able to help those who qualify. Gifts of Hope supports patients on the following fronts:

Gifts of Hope provides lodging at no cost to cancer patients through the operation of Hope House. Gifts of Hope is able to provide a safe and comfortable place to stay during treatment and other related visits. Hope House is located at 2006 W. Tennessee Ave., adjacent to Allison Cancer Center in Midland. Hope House has eight bedrooms and can room up to 18 cancer patients and their caregivers at one time. Patients can recover with their families by their side. Each room has two twin beds, its own private bathroom, television set and accommodations for clothing and supplies. Hope House has a common living area and full size kitchen available to our guests during their stay. There is also a weekly prayer group that meets and prays with our residents. The house provides a warm and loving atmosphere for patients and their families.

Resident Information Sheet and Guidelines

As a patient battles cancer, the need for various medications to alleviate the side effects can be great.  Gifts of Hope helps assist with the copay or cost of pharmaceutical prescriptions for qualifying cancer patients currently undergoing treatment and for the subsequent twelve months.

Gifts of Hope also helps with the cost or copay of durable medical equipment such as; colostomy bags or special toiletry needs, nutritional supplements, and bras and / or prosthesis needed.

Gifts of Hope assists cancer patients with the expensive costs of dental exams and procedures needed in order to receive treatment as well as help those patients with poor oral hygiene or decay as a direct result of cancer treatments receive the care needed.  We partner with local surgeons to provide our patients with the services and care they need.

Assistance is provided for patients residing in Midland who are unable to facilitate their own transportation or pay the cost of reliable transportation to and from treatments and appointments at the Allison Cancer Center.  For the cancer patient traveling from a neighboring community in the Permian Basin we are able to provide assistance in the form of gas gift cards.  The gas gift cards help with the cost of travel for diagnosis, treatment and follow up of their disease.

The costs associated with various medical exams, tests or procedures needed in order to begin cancer treatment or to continue receiving cancer treatment can be a huge financial burden.  Gifts of Hope helps alleviate that burden for those necessary and urgent examinations not covered by current private insurance or through assistance with copay or deductibles due.

Gifts of Hope serves lunch to those undergoing infusion treatments at the Allison Cancer Center. Meals are prepared and served Monday thru Friday in the infusion room to patients and their caregivers by our team of volunteers.

At Gifts of Hope, we focus on the whole person, and we also consider the needs of your family members, and caregivers.  We host several support groups that can provide information, guidance, and an understanding of living with cancer.
Support groups are available for patients with all types of cancer and are open to patients, family members, caregivers and anyone whose life has been touched by cancer.
Please join us.  We look forward to meeting you!
