Gifts of Hope supports and assists cancer patients with limited financial resources by offering free lodging at Hope House, prescription assistance, medical equipment, transportation costs, and help with medical and dental expenses. We also have our Hope Circle Support groups, which provide community, education, emotional support, and prayer.
Hope House is a home away from home to those driving to Midland to be treated at Allison Center or the West Texas Cancer Center through Texas Oncology. Gifts of Hope provides lodging at no cost to those patients through the operation of Hope House. Hope House, which is adjacent to Allison Cancer Center in Midland, has eight bedrooms and can house up to 16 cancer patients and their caregivers at one time. Each room has two twin beds, its own private bathroom, television set and accommodations for clothing and supplies. Hope House has a common living area and full size kitchen available to our guests during their stay. The house provides a warm and loving atmosphere for cancer patients and their families.
Prescription Assistance & Durable Medical Equipment
As a patient battles cancer, the need for various medications can be a heavy burden. Gifts of Hope helps assist with the copay or cost of pharmaceutical prescriptions for qualifying cancer patients currently undergoing treatment and the subsequent twelve months. Gifts of Hope also helps with the cost or copay of durable medical equipment such as colostomy bags, special toiletry needs, nutritional supplements, and bras or prosthesis.
Some patients cannot even begin their cancer treatment because it is necessary to have teeth removed prior to radiation. One of the side effects of radiation is tooth and jaw bone decay. We are committed to helping clients with these expensive needs, so they can begin their treatment. We also assist with replace the extracted teeth with bridges or dentures.
Assistance is provided for patients residing in Midland who are unable to facilitate their own transportation or pay the cost of reliable transportation to and from treatments and appointments at the Allison Cancer Center. For the cancer patient traveling outside of the Permian Basin, we provide gas gift cards to ease the burden of transportation cost.
The costs associated with various medical exams, tests, or procedures needed in order to begin cancer treatment or to continue receiving cancer treatment can be a huge financial burden. Gifts of Hope helps alleviate those necessary costs and urgent examinations for those without health insurance benefits and those not covered by insurance.
Gifts of Hope serves lunch to those undergoing infusion treatments at the Allison Cancer Center. Meals are prepared by our Hope House Honeybees and delivered Monday thru Friday to the infusion patients.
Support Groups & Networking
At Gifts of Hope, we address the mental, emotional, and spiritual needs of our clients. We host several support groups that provide information, guidance, and an understanding of living with cancer. Our support groups are available for patients with all types of cancer and are open to patients, family members, caregivers and anyone whose life has been touched by cancer.
